Poland Tourism Guide

Travel Information on Poland

Poland is one of the largest countries in Central Europe. Poland is an example of how a former communist country can transform itself successfully into a true democracy. Poland has gone trough major economic and politic changes in the last decade, which have made it into a modern and very attractive country. Despite its troubled history, Poland has managed to survive and to reinvent itself. Much of the credit for the country’s rebirth is attributed to the Polish people, who worked hard and sacrificed a lot for their country.

The Polish tourism has also bloomed in the past years, and Poland is nowadays a major tourist destination. This country has a beautiful landscape, big modern cities as well as medieval towns, romantic villages and charming castles. All these elements, combined with affordable prices and comfortable accommodations, make Poland a favourite tourist attraction. Poland is the 14th most attractive tourist destination in the world, with over 14 million tourists visiting this beautiful country every year. There are 13 UNESCO world heritage sights in Poland. The best known are the old town in Warsaw, the Wawel Castle in Krakow, the Wieliczka Salt Mine and, of course, the Auschwitz Nazi Concentration Camp. These sights are not only important for the culture and history of Poland, but they are significant parts of the cultural and historical heritage of the world. This is the reason why it is very important to preserve them for the next generations.
